Airport-Friendly Composite Toe Work Boots for Australian Workers

Airport-friendly work boots use a composite or fibreglass toe cap instead of steel, so there's less metal to set off a scanner. They suit FIFO workers flying to site, airport and aviation staff, security officers and anyone who passes through metal detectors at work. Composite toe boots are also lighter than steel caps, which helps on long shifts.

  • Zip-sided boots: Mack Octane and TerraPro, Oliver AT, Puma Sierra Nevada and JB's Wear composite toe zip boots
  • Elastic-sided boots: Puma Tanami boots, which pull on and off quickly at security checks
  • Waterproof boots: the Munka Renew and Puma Conquest for wet conditions
  • Safety shoes and joggers: lightweight Puma, New Balance and Hard Yakka X Range styles for warehouse, logistics and terminal work

A composite toe cap alone doesn't make a boot metal-free, as zips and eyelets can still contain metal. If you're scanned often, look for listings that mention non-metallic hardware, such as the Oliver AT 45632Z and Munka Renew.
